⚠️

This site does not provide medical advice.

The content published on Modern Weight Science is for general educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or health condition. It does not substitute for the professional judgment of a qualified healthcare provider who knows your individual circumstances.

Not a substitute for professional care

Nothing on this website — including articles, guides, summaries of clinical research, medication comparisons, dosing information, or any other content — constitutes medical advice, medical diagnosis, or medical treatment.

Do not disregard, delay, or avoid professional medical advice because of something you have read on this website. If you have questions about your health, a medical condition, a medication, or a treatment, speak directly with a licensed healthcare professional.

GLP-1 medications require a prescription

GLP-1 receptor agonists — including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy, Rybelsus) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro, Zepbound) — are prescription medications in most jurisdictions. They require evaluation by a licensed prescriber before use.

Decisions about whether these medications are appropriate for you, which medication and dose to use, how to manage side effects, and when to stop treatment must be made with a licensed prescriber who has reviewed your full medical history, current medications, and individual health circumstances. Modern Weight Science cannot make these determinations.

Clinical data reflects populations, not individuals

When we describe clinical trial results — such as average weight loss on semaglutide or tirzepatide — these figures represent averages across large, controlled study populations. Individual responses to medication, diet, and lifestyle interventions vary substantially.

The average outcome in a clinical trial is not a prediction of your outcome. Some individuals respond much more or much less than the average. Factors including your baseline health, concurrent medications, medical history, and adherence all influence outcomes in ways that population averages cannot capture.

No doctor-patient relationship

Using Modern Weight Science — reading our content, subscribing to our newsletter, or contacting us — does not create a doctor-patient relationship, a therapist-patient relationship, or any other professional healthcare relationship. We are not your healthcare provider.

The information on this site does not take your personal medical history, medications, allergies, comorbidities, or individual circumstances into account. A licensed clinician who knows your full history is the appropriate source of individualized medical guidance.

Medical emergencies

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately (911 in the United States, 999 in the UK, 112 in the EU) or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not use this website in an emergency situation.

Accuracy and currency of information

We make every effort to ensure the accuracy of our content and to update it when the evidence changes. However, medical knowledge evolves rapidly. Information that was accurate at the time of publication may be superseded by new research, regulatory changes, or updated clinical guidelines.

Always verify current prescribing information, approval status, and dosing guidelines directly with your prescriber or pharmacist and through official regulatory sources such as the FDA or EMA.
