Your privacy

We collect minimal data and are transparent about what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Last updated: May 2026

Who we are

Modern Weight Science ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website modernweightscience.com — an independent health publication providing educational content on GLP-1 medications, metabolism, and obesity science.

This privacy policy explains what information we collect from visitors to our website, how we use it, how long we retain it, and what rights you have regarding your personal data.

Information we collect

Analytics data. We use Vercel Analytics to understand how visitors use the site. Vercel Analytics is privacy-preserving by design: it collects aggregated data including page views, referral sources, device types, and approximate geographic region. It does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. No individual visitor is tracked across sessions.

Email address (newsletter). If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address for the sole purpose of sending you the digest you requested. We do not sell, rent, or share email addresses with third parties. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every email.

Contact messages. If you contact us via email, we retain your message and email address in order to respond. These messages are not used for marketing purposes and are not shared with third parties.

What we do not collect. We do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal data beyond what is described above. We do not use advertising tracking pixels, cross-site tracking, or third-party analytics services that build behavioral profiles.

Cookies

Modern Weight Science uses minimal cookies. Vercel Analytics operates without cookies that identify individual users. We do not set advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any cookies that persist data about your browsing behavior across other websites.

If you subscribe to our newsletter or use any interactive features, session cookies may be used for the purpose of operating those features. These cookies expire at the end of your browser session.

How we use your information

  • Analytics data is used solely to understand aggregate site usage — which pages are read, where visitors come from — in order to improve content.
  • Email addresses are used only to send the newsletter you requested.
  • Contact messages are used only to respond to your inquiry.

We do not sell any personal data. We do not use personal data for behavioral advertising. We do not share personal data with third parties except where necessary to operate the services described above (e.g., our email sending provider).

Third-party services

Vercel. The site is hosted on Vercel. All web traffic passes through Vercel's infrastructure. Vercel's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy, available at vercel.com.

Supabase. Article content is served from a Supabase database. Supabase handles database hosting and security. No personally identifiable visitor data is stored in our Supabase database.

Third-party links. Our articles link to external websites — clinical journals, FDA documents, telehealth providers, and others. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. When you leave our site, this privacy policy no longer applies.

Data retention

  • Analytics data — retained in aggregate form per Vercel's standard retention policy (no individual user data is retained)
  • Newsletter email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe
  • Contact messages — retained for up to 12 months, then deleted

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including:

  • Right of access — the right to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Right to erasure — the right to request deletion of your personal data
  • Right to rectification — the right to correct inaccurate personal data
  • Right to object — the right to object to our processing of your data

EU and UK residents have these rights under GDPR and UK GDPR respectively. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@modernweightscience.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Modern Weight Science is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in EU jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. We recommend reviewing this page periodically. Continued use of the site following a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
