Wegovy takes off more weight — 14.9% against Foundayo's 11.1%. Foundayo causes less nausea — 35% against Wegovy's 44%. Almost every comparison of these two stops after the first sentence and files Foundayo as the lesser drug. Both labels say something more interesting: you are trading about four points of weight loss for nine points of nausea and the end of injections.

Efficacy figures come from separate trials — Foundayo's phase 3 programme and semaglutide's STEP-1 — in different populations over different durations. Treat the ordering as reliable and the exact gap as approximate.
Weight loss: Wegovy, and not by a little
At maximum doses, Wegovy's 14.9% against Foundayo's 11.1% is a gap of nearly four percentage points, which on a 100 kg starting weight is about four kilograms.
The responder figures move the same way. On Foundayo's top dose, 71.5% of patients lost at least 5% of body weight, 54.5% at least 10% and 18.4% at least 20%. Those are good numbers. Semaglutide's are better.
If maximum weight loss is the only thing that matters to you, this comparison is over in one line, and neither of these is the answer anyway — that is tirzepatide, at roughly 20.9%. The full ranking is in the best GLP-1 for weight loss.
Nausea: Foundayo, by nine points
This is the row that changes the shape of the decision, and it is missing from most write-ups.

Foundayo is lower on nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fatigue, level on vomiting and constipation, and slightly higher only on hair loss. Once again these are separate trials, so read the direction rather than the decimals. But the direction is consistent across five of seven rows.
The instinctive explanation — that swallowing is gentler than injecting — is wrong, and the proof is that injected tirzepatide reports 28% nausea, lower than either drug here. What separates them is the molecule and how hard it drives the receptor, not the route.
If you want a pill, you have two, and they are not alike
Wegovy is no longer only an injection. It exists as a 25 mg daily tablet, which the label treats as equivalent to the 2.4 mg weekly pen. So "the pill option" is now a choice between two tablets, and the difference between them is larger than the difference between either and an injection.

Wegovy's tablet works because it is co-formulated with an absorption enhancer that gets a peptide across the stomach lining, and only about 1–2% of each dose makes it through even then. That is why the administration rules are strict rather than fussy: break them and you absorb less, with no symptom to tell you. Foundayo is a conventional small molecule and needs none of that scaffolding.
The consequence shows up in consistency. On the Wegovy tablet, 90% of patients land between 27 and 186 nmol/L of drug exposure; on the injection, between 51 and 110. Nearly three times the spread. The full mechanics are in the Wegovy pill to injection conversion.

Foundayo is cheaper at every equivalent step, and cheapest of all while you are titrating. Two conditions attach to its lowest maintenance price: the savings card only discounts the top two doses, so it is worth nothing until you pass 9 mg, and the $299 price requires refilling within 45 days of the previous delivery. What Wegovy has that Foundayo does not
A cardiovascular indication. Wegovy is approved to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events, on the strength of a dedicated outcomes trial. Foundayo has no such approval and no published outcomes trial.
For someone whose reason for taking a weight-loss drug is weight, this may not decide anything. For someone with established cardiovascular disease, it is the difference between a drug proven to reduce a hard endpoint and one that has not been tested for it. That is a conversation for a clinician, not a comparison table.
Which one
- Most weight lost: Wegovy, by about four percentage points — and tirzepatide beats both.
- Easiest to tolerate: Foundayo, lower on nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fatigue.
- No needles, no rules: Foundayo. The Wegovy tablet is also needle-free but comes with a daily fasting window.
- Cheapest: Foundayo at every step, from $149.
- Heart disease in the picture: Wegovy, the only one of the two with a cardiovascular approval.

The short version: Wegovy is the stronger drug, Foundayo is the easier one, and neither is a mistake. This is a prescription decision and the trade above is the input to it, not the answer.
