One tablet, once a day, with or without food. Swallow it whole. Never more than one a day. That is the entire administration instruction, and it is unusually short for this class of drug — rybelsus-for-weight-loss">oral semaglutide requires an empty stomach, a measured sip of water and a thirty-minute wait. Foundayo requires none of that. The rules that genuinely matter are elsewhere.
The daily routine
- Any time of day. The label sets no required time. Pick one you will keep.
- With or without food. No fasting window, no restriction on what you eat before or after.
- Any amount of water. No four-ounce limit, unlike peptide tablets.
- Swallow whole. Do not break, crush or chew.
- One tablet only, whatever the strength. Never double up.
Consistency of timing is a practical aid rather than a requirement. Attaching it to something you already do every day is the reliable method, and the reason is the next section.
The rule that costs you a month
Miss one dose and the instruction is simple: take it as soon as you remember, and do not take two the next day.
Miss seven or more days in a row and you restart the dose escalation at a lower dose. Not the dose you were on — lower, so your stomach is not asked to re-enter at a level it has lost tolerance for.
On a weekly injection, a lost week is one missed dose. On a daily tablet it is seven, and the cost is roughly a month of climbing back up. The usual causes are mundane: a trip where the bottle stayed home, a refill that did not arrive, a week of illness. The defence is ordering at day 25 to 30 rather than when the bottle empties, which also protects the 45-day refill condition on the top two doses described in Foundayo cost and savings card.
If you use oral contraception, read this before day one
Foundayo slows gastric emptying, which changes how other swallowed medicines are absorbed. The label instructs anyone using an oral contraceptive to switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method, for 30 days after starting Foundayo and for 30 days after every dose increase.
There are five dose increases. With the initial start, that is six separate 30-day windows spread across roughly the first six months.

Because the steps are 30 days apart at minimum, someone titrating at the fastest permitted pace is effectively covered continuously through the climb. Non-oral hormonal contraception — implant, injection, IUD, patch, ring — is not affected. This sits in a drug-interactions table rather than in the warnings, which is why it is missing from most coverage of the drug.
Tell your prescriber what else you take
Foundayo is a small molecule, and unlike the injected GLP-1s it passes through the liver enzyme CYP3A4. That gives it interactions peptides do not have.
- Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors cap your maximum Foundayo dose at 9 mg instead of 17.2 mg.
- Strong CYP3A4 inducers should be avoided; moderate ones need monitoring.
- Simvastatin is capped at 20 mg daily alongside Foundayo.
- Insulin or a sulfonylurea may need a dose reduction when you start, because of hypoglycaemia risk.

Check you have the right tablet
Six strengths, three colours, two shapes — and the colours repeat across the shapes, so colour alone is not enough.

A pink tablet is 0.8 mg if it is round and 9 mg if it is oval — an eleven-fold difference. The G-number on the reverse runs G1 to G6 in dose order and is the reliable check.
What to do about side effects
Nausea, diarrhoea and vomiting are most common while the dose is climbing and settle afterwards. The label's own answer to poor tolerance is not to push through: increases above 5.5 mg are made "based on treatment response and tolerability", which means staying longer at the current dose is a legitimate plan, not a failure. Nobody is obliged to reach 17.2 mg.

What to expect while you climb
The escalation runs at least 150 days, and the label is explicit that side effects are worst during it.
